Citizenship

To apply to be Canadian, the applicant needs to apply for citizenship.

The requirements for applying for citizenship are:

  • The applicant is a permanent resident of Canada.
  • The applicant has resided in Canada for 1095 within the last 1460 days – three out of four years.
  • The applicant must understand and speak basic English or French and show his ability by taking the English and language tests with the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB). Level 4 or higher is required to be provided with an application.
  • The applicant must pass the citizenship test. This test relates to Canada’s history, geography, government and the rights and responsibilities of a citizen.
  • The applicant has filed their taxes at least 3 years during the 5 years right before the date you apply.

People 55 years of age and over are exempt from language and citizenship test requirements.

 After the applicant applied , they should wait for IRcc to cantact them for Citizenship test and after that final step to become a Canadian citizen is Taking the Oath of Citizenship at a citizenship ceremony.

  • Canadian citizens have right to vote in elections.
  • Canadian citizens can travel with their Canadian passport which let them to enter to more than 150 countries without visa.
  • Canadian citizens do not need certain residency requirement and not worry about their immigration stause
