Family sponsorship

One of the programs that allowed people from other countries to become a permanent resident of Canada is family sponsorship.

This category includes:

Spouse Sponsorship:

under this category, Canadian Citizens or permanent residents of Canada who live in Canada and are married to other citizens can sponsor their spouse or common-law to come to Canada and live with them.

Just being married together doesn’t mean that you can sponsor your spouse. There are some requirements for eligibility for this program.
– The most critical requirement for this program is that officers recognize their marriage as genuine.
● The couple must meet each other before marriage.
● Marriage through the internet and video call is not acceptable
● The couple must be 18 years old or more.
● The sponsor must live in Canada or show they want to live in Canada.
● The sponsor must have enough money to support their spouse.

● You are not eligible to sponsor your spouse if:
● You were sponsored by your ex-spouse; less than 5 years ago
● You sponsored your ex-spouse less that 3 years ago and you are still responsible for her/him financially
● You are in jail, prison
● You did not pay back an immigration loan, performance bond or court ordered family support
● You previously sponsored your ex-spouse and did not give the financial support

Parents Sponsorship

If you are a citizen or a permanent resident of Canada you may sponsor your parents to become permanent residents.
There are some requirements for eligibility for this program:
1-The essential requirement for applying under this category is that your income in past 3 years were above of equal of the LC
2-Each year immigration announces a specific time to register your request for sponsoring your parents. You are eligible to apply if you get an invitation to apply.

Sponsor your sibling

In general, you, as a citizen or permanent resident, can not sponsor your brother/ sister, but there are exceptional circumstances that you can sponsor your siblings.
1-If you want to sponsor your parents, your siblings are under 22 years old and are single, which means they depend on your parents.
2- If you are lonely and do not have a spouse or children in Canada, you may sponsor your blood relatives like your brother, sister, uncle, aunt, niece or nephew to immigrate to Canada.
